Vietnam is a Southeast Asian country. It’s known for its beaches, rivers, bustling cities, and Buddhist pagodas. It is a middle-income economy. Christian worship is legal in Vietnam. However, Vietnam has a repressive Communist government that actively restricts Christianity and Christian worship. The government views Christianity and Christians as a threat to power and control.
There are around 119 people groups in Vietnam. Of those, 68 (57.1%) are unreached. There is a population of around 98,070,000, of those, 8,982,000 (9.2%) are unreached.
The largest religion is Buddhism (51.3%). Most Vietnamese people believe in a mix of ancestor worship and Buddhism. There are an estimated 10.18% of Christians with 2.16% being Evangelical Christian.
Minority tribal groups like the Hmong usually face the most violent and harsh forms of persecution. While Christians in urban areas usually face pressure and harassment.
